Akhnoor, 26th August: Indian army alongwith with Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), the specialised wing of J&K police to tackle the menace of drug, Jammu zone organised an awareness lecture on drug abuse at Govt degree college, Khour in border area of sector Khour district Jammu . The aim was to educate the people, specially youth about the ill effects of drug consumption.
Officials of ANTF adviced the youth to stay away from drugs, help the drug dependents to get proper treatment at drug rehabilitation and drug de-addiction centres and to share any kind of information regarding drug related activities with ANTF so that strict legal action is taken against such drug dealers.
Speakers mentioned that drug addiction leads to a brain disorder that puts young abusers, mostly teenagers and adolescents at a greater risk. The most effective prevention tactics are informative discussions about the effects and consequences of drug abuse. They emphasized that all the section of society shall join hands together to propagate the awareness regarding ill effects of drug abuse amongst the ignorant masses.
The initiative gesture of Indian army and ANTF for creating awareness among youth was highly appreciated by the College Staff and the students.
