October 25: “`Police in Budgam marked the ongoing Police Flag Day Week-2023 with enthusiasm and a sense of remembrance as they organized several events and activities to honour the police martyrs. The week-long events which commenced on 21st October 2023, will continue till 31st of October 2023.
One of the highlights of today’s events was the Volleyball Tournament held at the District Police Lines in Budgam. The tournament witnessed the spirited participation of 06 teams from Budgam. In a thrilling final match, Kashmir Elite Budgam faced off against Budgam Police, with Kashmir Elite Budgam emerging as the winners with a score of 2-0. The tournament showcased the sporting spirit and camaraderie of the participants. SSP Budgam Shri Al Tahir Gilani graced the occasion by presenting trophies to the winning team.
Apart from the sports activities, another significant function including the awarding of certificates of appreciation to the deserving wards of police martyrs who have demonstrated excellence in academics. The recipients of these certificates were Tahir Ali son of Martyr HC Ali Mohd Mir, Sakib Bashir son of Martyr SgCt Bashir Ah Hajam, Danish Bilal son of Martyr Ct. Bilal Ah Sheikh and Leeza Aijaz daughter of Martyr Ct. Aijaz Ahmad Wani. These young achievers received recognition for their dedication to academics, reflecting the values instilled by their heroic parents.
Throughout the day, officers from the Budgam Police visited the families of police martyrs to inquire about their well-being and to address any grievances they may have. This gesture exemplifies the commitment of the police force to honour and support the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
