Gulpur Cultural program “Izhaar-e-Hunar” organized by Sarla Battalion 9 Sikhli at gulpur in poonch under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Brigade began with a grand opening as the day events attracted scores of people from all the villages across Poonch
Sarla Battalion has left no stone unturned for the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. In this connection the program was titled “Izhaar-e-Hunar” for the promotion and preservation of the rich culture of Jammu & Kashmir. The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has a rich history of music, dance & folklore. However, despite such a great legacy the culture and traditions of the Union territory has been overshadowed by militancy. Indian Army under Op Sadhbhavna carried out plethora of initiatives to revive and rejuvenate rich cultures and traditions.
- The primary aim of organising this cultural program was to revive the folk music and folk dances of the Pir Panjal region and preserve the rich culture and traditions of Pahadi and Gujjari communities of the region and to promote the message of universal brotherhood
- Speaking on the occasion, The major highlight of the event was young talent from various schools were given opportunity to showcase their talent. This kind of platform provides a great opportunity to them to exhibit their talent.
- The show had scintillating cultural presentations featuring Kawali, Rap by 15 year old ,Patriotic Songs, Various instruments to include tabla by 8 year old, Local folk music and dance forms were displayed during the festival and also acts giving out impact of drugs on the society which made everyone spellbound. The festival was holistic in nature displaying young talent from across the villages of Khari Karmara, Gulpur,Ajote and others.
- The impact of the program has been multi-faceted which has provided motivation and subsistence to the young artists of Poonch.
- The event was one of its kind conducted in the entire district of Poonch a for carrying out these kinds of initiatives for welfare as well as development. The participants of the event were felicitated in the end. The entire program received a huge crowd cheering and applause by the local population.
- Sarla Battalion under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Brigade has been carrying out a number of initiatives under Op Sadhbavna to bring development revive the local culture and establish a strong bond between security forces and Awam towards ensuring the peaceful environment.
