Police organizes awareness programme on ‘Prevention of Drug Addiction’ in Budgam

Police in Budgam have organised an awareness programme on “Prevention of Drug Addiction” at Higher Secondary School Panzan, Budgam.

The programme was organised under the directions of SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS with the motive to provide awareness of drug de-addiction among the participants and their cooperation was also sought in eradicating the social evils prevailing in the society particularly the menace of drugs.

The programme was hosted by Principal Higher Secondary School Panzan Mr. Mohammad Maqbool Akhoon and Incharge Drug de-addiction & Stress Management Centre DPL Budgam Ms Insha Hassan and was attended by 15 staff members and 60 students of the school.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Insha Hassan highlighted the role of school management in identification of substance abusers and their role in remedial measures thereof. Thrust was also given to the psychological and social aspects of addiction. Detailed deliberations on various aspects of drug addiction and preventive measures especially in youth were also discussed.

During the programme, all the participants pledged to never indulge in any kind of substance abuse. Principal of the school highlighted the role of parents and said that parents have a greater responsibility in social development of a child as they act as the first teachers and guides of their wards.

The participants thanked the Police for conducting such awareness programmes and building a bridge of trust between police and the youth.
