Ex-Militant convicted for rape by the court of Ld. district & sessions judge Kishtwar

The Ld. District & Sessions Judge Kishtwar Sh. Y.P Kotwal sentenced a rape accused namely Raju @ Bilal S/o Gh. Mohd R/o Sigdi Tehsil Chatroo District Kishtwar to 08 years imprisonment alongwith fine of Rs. 50,000/- in case FIR No. 45/2016 U/S 376,363,452 RPC of PS Chatroo.

On 08-12-2016, the victim (name withheld) produced a written application at Police Station Chatroo dully endorsed by the Hon’ble CJM Kishtwar with the contents that on 04-12-2016, she had gone to attend the marriage ceremony of her relative and on the same day during night hours one Ex-Militant namely Raju @Bilal S/o Gh. Mohd @ Gulzar Tehsil Chatroo District Kishtwar entered her house with arms/ammunition and kidnapped her minor daughter (name withheld) and also looted the ornaments of her daughter-in-law. On this, a case FIR No. 45/2016 U/S 452/363/380/109/RPC was registered at P/S Chatroo and investigation started. During the course of investigation, sections 376/323/RPC were added in the instant case.

Different teams were constituted and with the help of technical as well as human assistance the accused was arrested in the case and after completion of all the required formalities, the offences were proved against the accused and subsequently the Challan of the case was produced before the Court of Law vide Challan No. 39/2016 dated 24-12-2016 for judicial determination. The trail of the case lasted for about 06 years and on 29-12-2022 the District & Sessions Judge Kishtwar while announcing the judgment, sentenced the accused for 08 years rigrous imprisonment alongwith fine of Rs. 50,000/- in case FIR no 45/2016 under Section 376,363,452,323/RPC of PS Chatroo.

District Police Kishtwar vigorously followed the trial of the case in the Court of Law and ensured conviction of the accused.
