Jammu Police in Subdivision Nagrota laid special nakas at three different locations in District Jammu in the areas under the jurisdictions of PS Nagrota, and PS Jhajjar Kotli respectively.
A massive crackdown has been done on the menace of bovine smuggling whereby 50 bovine animals have been rescued.
A police team of PS Nagrota led by SHO PS Nagrota Inspr. Vishav Partap Singh while on naka duty at Ban Toll Plaza area rounded up a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02BP/5228 coming from Jammu towards Srinagar. During search of the vehicle 23 bovine animals were rescued.
In this regard, case FIR No. 12/2022 U/S 188/IPC 11PCA /50/52/54/56/Transport Act 1978 got registered at PS Nagrota and accused got arrested. Accused arrested was identified as Mohd Abass S/o Mohd Hussain R/o Mithrian Tehsil Kalakot District Rajouri.
Similarly at another naka by police teams of PS Jhajjar Kotli near Suketar area, police teams lef by SHO Jhajjarkotli Insptr Samson Bhatti rounded up two suspects namely Amardeep S/o late Sanjeevdeep R/o Rambin Tehsil lumbing Distt Ho Jay (assam) and Mohd Shakeel S/o Ab Gani R/o Miran Sahib Distt Jammu coming in a vehicle bearing Registration No. HR55 AE8937. During search of the vehicle, 27 bovine animals were rescued from the vehicle.
In this regard, case FIR No. 07/2023 u/s 188 IPC -11 PCA Act 50,52,54,56 Transportation of animal rule 1978 Act got registered at PS Jhajjar Kotli and accused got arrested.
The overall arrests and recoveries in both the cases were made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
District Police Jammu is striving hard and taking every possible step to curb the bovine smuggling menace. District Police Jammu is seeking support from the people to share information about bovine smuggling with police for timely intervention for the cause.
