Police is committed to maintain safe & secure atmosphere free from drug menace and crime : SSP Samba Benam Tosh
Samba, April 29 : Under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Police achieved a major success today and arrested hardcore criminal-cum-heroin supplier “Goru” and recovered heroin ('chitta') worth rupees 55 thousand approximately from his possession.
The hardcore accused was arrested by a police team headed by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary and comprising of SHO Police Station Vijaypur Tribhawan Khajuria & PSI Ajay Jamwal at a special naka in Ranjari village, tehsil Vijaypur district Samba.
The arrested heroin supplier has been identified as Balwander Singh nicknamed “Goru” s/o Swarn Singh r/o Rahya Ranjari tehsil Vijaypur district Samba. A case FIR No. 50/2023 u/s 8/21/22 has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and interrogation of the accused is underway.
The arrested accused is a hardcore criminal-cum-heroin supplier also involved in case FIR No. 299/2021 U/S 341/323/506/504 IPC of P/S Bari Brahmana and FIR No. 26/2022 U/S 307/323/34 IPC 4/25 Arms Act of P/S Vijaypur. With the latest FIR No. 50/2023 u/s 8/21/22 of PS Vijaypur, three FIRs have been registered against him in Samba district itself. He has earlier been involved in attempt to murder case of Vijaypur and criminal intimidation case of Bari Brahmana and was presently posing a grave threat to the peace & tranquility of the area.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that police is committed to maintain safe & secure atmosphere free from drug menace and crime in Samba district and stringent action under law is being taken against hardcore criminals and notorious suppliers of heroin. So far, total thirty four (34) notorious suppliers of heroin have been arrested in three months and several others have been booked under relevant sections of law in different FIRs and raids are being conducted to nab them, he said.
