Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, Kathua Police today arrested one bootlegger & recovered 96 bottles (750 ml each) illicit liquor at dispatch point Lakhanpur area.
On 03-05-2023 it is reliably learnt that the driver of the Sleeper Bus bearing Reg. No. UP4OT-6629 doing the trade of illicit liquor and enrouting from Punjab towards Jammu. Acting on the same information police team led by Insp. Vijay Kotwal SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Subash Chander during special checking at Dispatch point Lakhanpur area, intercepted said Sleeper Bus bearing Reg. No. UP40T-6629 driven by one person namely Harnek Singh S/o Jaspal Singh R/o Simbal Jhalian Tehsil & District Ropar (Punjab) who was involved in illegal trade of illicit liquor.During checking 96 Bottles(750 ml each) illicit liquor were recovered from the dickey of said Bus which he had kept in his possesion in order to gain illegitimate profit by selling same to people of concerned area. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor i.e 96 bottles of illicit liquor were seized and one person arrested in this connection.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 47/2023 U/S 48 (a), 50 Excise Act stands registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation has been initiated.
