Srinagar 24 Oct : An aged drug peddler was arrested by Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district after recovery of eight kg of poppy straw-like substance from his possession.
As per the news agency CNS, a police spokesperson said that the police party headed by SHO police station Qazigund during patrolling at Naid Check, Nassu Badragund intercepted one suspicious person carrying a nylon bag.
“The person, after noticing the police party, tried to flee from the spot. He was chased and apprehended tactfully. After checking, officers recovered eight kg of Poppy Straw-like contraband substance from his possession,” said the police spokesperson.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Hussain Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie, a resident of Naid Check Nassu Badragund.
Regarding this incident, a case with FIR No. 234/2023 under sections 8 and 15 of NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation was set into the motion, the police said.
