In a major action aimed at safeguarding public health, Police Station Bus Stand, Jammu,foiled an attempt to transport adulterated food items during a midnight operation.

On the intervening night of 01/02 September 2025, acting on specific intelligence,Police Party headed by SHO Bus Stand,Inspector InderPal Singh intercepted a bus (JK02DJ/9780) and an auto load carrier (JK14K/4589) at the Bus Stand. Upon thorough checking, 21 boxes (approx. 11 quintals) of cheese were recovered. The consignment was found without mandatory SOP compliance and was suspected to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSAI).

The recovered items were immediately placed under safe custody at the police station, and the matter was reported to the Deputy Commissioner, Food Safety, and senior police officers. On 02 September 2025, the Deputy Commissioner, Food Safety, accompanied by his team and the Mobile Laboratory Unit, visited Police Station Bus Stand in the presence of SDPO City.
The consignment was formally seized, on-spot samples were drawn, and necessary prosecution proceedings were initiated against the Food Business Operator (FBO).
Preliminary findings of Food Safety authorities indicate that the recovered cheese was suspected to be adulterated. Further legal action is underway.
Jammu Police reiterates its firm commitment towards ensuring public safety and health and assures that strict action will be taken against those indulging in food adulteration.
