In a statement, Doda Police said that a notorious bovine smuggler namely Riaz Ahmed S/O Ghulam Mohd Khanji @ Khanday R/O Chattroo Bhagwah Doda has been detained under PSA for his involvement in bovine smuggling. The subject was a notorious criminal and repeated offender of bovine smuggling and on the dossier prepared by District Police Doda, he was detained under PSA by the order of detention issued by DM Doda to prevent him from indulging in the activities detrimental to the public order and he was lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
It is to mention here that Doda Police has launched a special drive against the bovine smugglers and this year (32) cases of bovine smuggling have been registered in which (45) persons have been arrested, (04) vehicles involved in transportation of bovine have been seized and (196) bovine animals have been rescued. Moreover (02) repeated offenders of bovine smuggling have been detained under PSA.
Doda Police has sought cooperation from the general public so that the bovine smuggling which is a serious issue and has potential to create law and order problem is rooted out. Doda Police has also warned the smugglers to desist from smuggling of bovine else face stringent action which includes detention under PSA and attachment of property of habitual offenders alongside registration of FIRs against them.
