In a proactive move towards educating students, the Health Department, in collaboration with GHS Gadi, organized an awareness program on Adolescent Girls at Govt High School Gadi in the Medical Block Ghat District of Doda on March 27, 2024.

The program garnered significant attendance from female students and school staff, focusing primarily on raising awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding Menstrual Hygiene. The initiative aimed to sensitize girls and women about essential health and hygiene issues, particularly those related to menstruation.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and an introductory speech by the Headmaster of the School, Sh. Liaqat Zargar, emphasizing the importance of Menstrual Hygiene and Gender Equality. Dr. Toufeeq Aslam, the Incharge of Health Centre Gadi and the Resource Person for the occasion, shed light on the challenges associated with menstrual hygiene education in schools. He stressed the need for period-friendly initiatives and sanitation facilities while highlighting adolescence as a critical transition period requiring proper attention to health and nutrition.
Moreover, Dr. Toufeeq emphasized the importance of adequate nutrition intake during adolescence and its impact on future well-being. He encouraged teenagers to adopt healthy habits and proper hygiene practices. As a token of support, the school authorities distributed sanitary pads and refreshments to all participants, reinforcing the commitment to promoting adolescent health and well-being.
